Out of 31 Sponsor a Museum applicants we have chosen the Vancouver Police Museum as our 2009 recipient. We had some great applicants this year but the Vancouver Police Museum stood out for their enthusiasm, their technological savvy, their use of social media and this great sense of quirk we picked up. We are really excited to do some interesting projects with this museum. Click here for the media release.

»01.01.08 - 10 years in the web development business is a long time and we mark that milestone this year. Zero One Design started out in 1997, hand coding websites in HTML - a time when Flash, CSS and all the bells and whistles that make today's virtual exhibitions pop didn't exist. We have to thank our many clients for making us who we are today and allowing us to experiment from time to time! We are looking forward to another 10 years working with the best that Canada has to offer in culture.

»04.01.07 - Sail Beyond the Map, a new Virtual Museum of Canada exhibition that launched in April, 2007. By unrolling the charts of the Pacific Northwest, this Zero One Design produced and developed web site looks at what inspired "exploration" and "discovery" and what those ideas mean. The site, a year in completion was a partnership between many prestigious maritime institutions including the Maritime Museum of British Columbia, the Alexandro Malaspina Research Centre, the University of London, The Vancouver Spanish Pacific Historical Society, the Washington State Historical Society and the National Maritime Museum in London. Financial investment was provided by the Department of Canadian Heritage.

»10.31.06 - In collaboration with the BC Museum of Mining, the British Columbia Institute of Technology, the University of BC and the Mineral Resources Education Program of BC, Zero One Design the latest Virtual Museum of Canada project The Mill at The Mill at Britannia Mine: Beauty in the Beast has launched. This year-long project explores the Concentrator and the community that worked within it. The Concentrator, a National Historic Site and British Columbia Provincial Landmark, is one of the most imposing structures on the Sea to Sky Highway and its size and magnitude is matched only by its historical importance. Highly innovative at the time of its construction in 1922, the Concentrator, Mill #3, was key to Britannia Mines being one of the largest copper producing mines in the British Commonwealth throughout the 1920s and a major mine into the 1970s. The site uses interview material from experts and community members, archival video and images, a fully immersible 3D tour, Quicktime VR, an interactive flow chart and original blueprints to tell the story of the building.
